All,
We have been invited to play at the Drummond Trinity 6s tournament and we are loking to get a team together for it. We can have a squad of 11 (but are unlikely to use 11) and rules are below.
Confirmed so far are Neil, Aaron and Mike R
Plan would be to meet at Inverleith Park at about 11.45.
If you want to play, let me know.
Cheers.
PS - Guess what - We drew Leith...AGAIN!!!! 7th game this season!

Dear Aaron
HAMISH JARDINE MEMORIAL TROPHY
SUNDAY 31 AUGUST 2008 – INVERLEITH PARK, EDINBURGH
We are delighted that your club has agreed to enter a team for our inaugural Cricket Sixes Tournament. We remain hopeful that the monsoon Scottish summer will relent for the occasion!
I enclose a copy of the competition rules which we hope make sense. There seem to be no clearly established rules for tournaments of this kind so we have borrowed from different versions and hope these will work for us (we will change them next year if they don’t!)
The tournament will start sharp at 12 noon and the changing rooms will be open from 11.30am for players as they arrive. I also enclose a playing schedule. It is important that everyone tries to stick to timings as it is a long day and a lot of matches to get through.
Drummond Trinity will provide an umpire and scorer for each match although if clubs want to bring willing volunteers they would be welcome to help out.
We will provide lunch and tea, coffee etc during the afternoon.
At the conclusion of the tournament we cordially invite all players and spectators to join us at our sponsors the Peathingy Inn in Newhaven for the presentation of the trophy and medals. Our sponsor Ian Black has kindly offered to provide some hot snacks.
We look forward to seeing you there – the more the merrier.
Please confirm as soon as you can that you are still able to field a team and please give us a telephone number in the highly unlikely event of the weather ruining our plans!
Yours in sport.
Steve

COMPETITION RULES
1. Teams – each team will consist of 6 players. Although each club can have a squad of up to 11 players. The named 6 who start a game should complete that match. Reasonable fielding substitutions are allowed – any queries will be resolved by the Competition Committee

3. Closing innings: the fall of the 5th wicket closes an innings

5. Points awarded: Win = 2pts, Tie = 1pt, Loss = 0pts

In the unlikely event that this remains a tie, the teams will have a bowl out with all 6 players bowling one ball at the stumps.
7. No balls and wides: rules as for East League though interpreted fairly strictly. 1 run awarded and ball must be bowled again
