Semi Final
Marchmont 130 for 6 - S Peachey 51, M Roskell 3-29
Edinburgh Accies 108 all out - A Cosh 29, A Sardesai 3-20
Marchmont beat Edinburgh Accies by 22 runs to reach final.
A great display of batting and bowling, but more importantly fielding, saw us beat the pre game favourites. Everyone's efforts in the field should be commended, particularly those who took the wonder catches. The old addage certainly came true - catches do win matches.
Man of the Match Points
3 - Sam Peachey - A good 50 setting up the win and a solid return in the bowling stakes
2 - Steve Clayton - thie pick of the bowlers. Accies never really got to grip with the movement.
1 - Jay Paul Chetty - 2 excellent catches in the field and generally a huge game in the field.
A couple of other shout outs to CJ, Gav and Farhan for their contribution in the game. CJ bowled solidly, Gav's 22 and keeping were key and Farhan took a blinding catch.
Final
Murrayfield DAFS 127 for 7 - M Akerkar 66*, N Granger 2-21, C Durling 2-22
Marchmont 109 for 8 - A Sardesai 30, R Sampath 3-10
Murrayfield DAFS beat Marchmont by 18 runs.
A disappointing end to the day. 20 runs more than DAFS deserved and a couple of dropped catches (though tough ones) meant that we were chasing a little too much. That said, at 52 for no wicket, we were cruising. Sam's run out was a major turning point for the innings, alongside the loss of Mike without facing a ball.
In fairness, DAFS fielded excellently with 2 run outs and a couple of good catches.
Man of the Match Points
3 - Sam - For the bowling more this time, but the batting was key. An excellent spell of slow spin and a good starting partnership.
2 - Gav Wilson - A PHENOMENAL stumping, good gloves behind the stumps all day and a wee cameo with the bat.
1 - Neil Granger - A second good spell of bowling in the day, not letting DAFS build a major score.
Again major mention to CJ for his contribution to the bowling and Aaron for his batting.
Well done lads - disappointing, but we have shown good spirit today and a lot of promise for the coming season. The silverware will not be far off...
